Optimisation of water spray parameters by 3D CFD particle simulation for an automotive anti-aquaplaning system

Wet roads cause nearly half of all weather-related accidents, with aquaplaning posing a major safety risk when tyres lose contact with the road surface. To tackle this challenge, EASYRAIN developed the Aquaplaning Intelligent Solution (AIS); a system that uses a high-pressure water jet to restore tyre grip.

Using Particleworks, the team digitally modelled and optimised the AIS system with a mesh-free Moving Particle Simulation (MPS) approach. This enabled detailed analysis of jet dynamics, aerodynamic effects, and design parameters such as spray angle and injector position, all validated against experimental and track data.
