Presented at NAFEMS UK Conference 2026, this paper presents an enhanced calibration methodology for wastewater network models in catchments affected by seasonal groundwater infiltration. Developed in collaboration with a major UK water company, the approach uses multi-year monitoring data and a structured three-stage calibration process to improve prediction of annual storm overflow performance. The paper demonstrates how optimisation can automate and standardise calibration across large model portfolios, improving repeatability, transparency and confidence in model accuracy while supporting the development of future automated model verification systems.
