To achieve class leading performance we must have the best possible lubrication and temperature management systems, combined with a strong understanding of heat and fluid flows in our eMotors.

The simulation work we have done in partnership with STRIDE (formerly EnginSoft UK) has allowed us to develop novel solutions and push the boundaries of motor performance. STRIDE’s collaborative and flexible approach fits well with YASA’s fast moving innovative culture.

Their excellent understanding of our requirements and of their own tools has allowed us to quickly develop technologies in a way that supports this approach and enhances our capabilities.

Hewland Engineering operates across multiple sectors including Aerospace and Defence, Automotive, Marine, Transport, and Manufacturing, where the ability to fully understand product behaviour is essential for innovation.

It was a new project that required a new approach to gain a deeper understanding of product behaviour which was difficult to achieve with previously used tools and methods.

Since then, the Moving Particle Simulation solution, Particleworks, available from STRIDE (formerly EnginSoft UK), has been invaluable in ensuring lubrication management is properly addressed, helping us optimise performance from the outset. With their additional solutions and expertise from STRIDE, we have also started using Flownex, and while we are still assessing its full potential, it has already helped with early design calculations and system checks.

At Drive System Design, we specialise in the rapid development of next-generation electric and hybrid powertrains, internal combustion engines, and associated technologies. In a rapidly evolving industry, maintaining a competitive edge requires accurate and precise technical insights and robust engineering methodologies.

Particleworks, supported by the expertise of STRIDE (formerly EnginSoft UK), has enhanced our design and development processes. By delivering representative visualisations of complex fluid flow regimes, accurate estimates of drag torques and power losses, as well as reducing simulation turnaround times by up to 90%, it has greatly increased our engineering efficiency and enriched the quality of our designs.

Since the GD&T Training provided by STRIDE we have revised 30% of our latest drawings to improve product design and quality allowing our manufacturing suppliers to understand our design intentions avoid unnecessary cost.
